Calculation of options blocks

Click on the Calculate button to proceed to option block calculation once all the students have made their choices.

Skolaris automatically calculates the best possible combination of subjects arranged into option blocks based on the student choices and the course settings, such as the minimum and maximum numbers of students.

If Skolaris cannot find option blocks satisfying all the constraints, you can use the bias slider in the optimisation settings and rerun the optimisation to produce a compromise solution best suitable for your circumstances. You will find the details of any problems by clicking on the health and fitness icons. If an acceptable solution cannot be found, please modify the student choices (e.g. eliminating courses with too few students) or the available subject settings to obtain different results.

Click on the Create new option blocks button to proceed to option block creation.

Creation of option blocks

The controls on the page are prefilled with the calculated suggested subject combinations. Feel free to modify them or add teachers and lesson durations if you wish to create lessons at this stage.

Discarding will take you back to the calculation screen.
