Teacher
Contents [hide]
A teacher is, strictly speaking, a resource manually assigned to lessons. Assigned teachers are said to teach the lesson.
Each teacher can teach any number of lessons and each lesson can be taught by zero or more teachers.
Teachers and rooms are called lesson resources. Skolaris doesn't assign teachers to lessons automatically.
Tabs
Preferences
Timeslot availability
Change availability for timeslots in which lessons must not or should not be scheduled. Based on the percentage a slot is either fully available (100), undesired (90-10) or unavailable (0).The controlling constraint is Lesson: Teacher availability. The overall penalty for using an undesired slot is a product of the constraint penalty and the slot availability percentage.
Preferred rooms
Add a preferred room to indicate lessons should (or must) be scheduled into that room. Increase weight for rooms with higher priority. If some rooms are required, they are the only allowed rooms and the lessons may not be placed into another room. The controlling constraint is Lesson: Teacher preferred room.
Qualifications
Qualifications are preferred subjects the teacher can teach or cover. Teachers with a qualification are highlighted when creating lessons for a particular subject.Courses

Teaching periods adjustment
The entered value (positive or negative) is added to the number of actually taught periods by this teacher when calculating the teaching periods per timetabling week. This can be used to cater for teacher activities that count towards the period total but are not included in the timetable.Cover supervisor
Cover supervisors are considered first when choosing cover candidates.Virtual
Virtual teachers aren't real teachers. They are assigned to lessons as means to give those lessons special properties, such as limited timeslot availabilities or preferred rooms, that can't be otherwise specified for single lessons. This feature is for special cases only. Functionality of virtual teachers can usually be better achieved with lesson sets.
Active
Inactive objects do not appear in the system except at the end of the master lists and in old data. Deactivate objects you don't need anymore, but they are part of old timetables that you want to keep intact.Optimisation settings
Effective configuration set
The configuration set groups together settings that are likely to repeat for multiple teachers, such as maximum allowed periods per day etc. It is inherited from the term or year group, or can be set individually.See help for Teacher configuration.
